Hand-Crafted Frame Making

We offer a large selection of custom, hand-carved, gold-leafed frames varying from Renaissance to Contemporary styles, in a variety of finishes.

We carry frames from quality frame-making companies throughout the US. JDewers has an extensive line of hand-carved and gilded picture frames made by our own local carvers and gilders in our studio.

Janos studied frame making and gilding with Stanley Robertson from the National Gallery in Washington, D.C. and William Adair, owner of Goldleaf Studios in Washington, D.C. He studied frame-making and gilding at Oberlin College in Ohio, and traditional frame making methods and materials in the Art Conservation Department at Buffalo State University.

Janos worked as a frame-maker and conservator at a local regional art conservation lab, serving 16 different member museums and institutions throughout the Southwest.

Period Frames

As a frame historian, Janos will match your artwork to the correct frame period. Our carvers can copy your own design or can re-create any design from a photograph or drawing to your specifications.

We can create a variety of finishes appropriate for any period from Renaissance to Contemporary frames.
